Every part of the Brush with Bamboo toothbrush is plant-based: bristles, handle, and box.
The soft bristles are composed of 62% Castor Bean Oil and 38% nylon, and are made right here in the USA.
The handle is made responsibly in China from Certified 100% Organic Bamboo.
And the box encasing the toothbrush is made from paper - no tape or glue is used.
These bamboo toothbrushes can be used just as long as you would use a plastic toothbrush.
This product is: USDA Certified Biobased. Green American Certified. Vegan. BPA-Free. Natural and Non-toxic.
A Note Regarding Packaging & Product's End Of Life:
The cardboard box is 100% recyclable in paper recycling.
The bamboo handle is 100% compostable and can be composted at home.
The bristles, while plant-based do include nylon and therefore are not biodegradable.
To properly dispose of your toothbrush you must remove the bristles from the handle head before trying to compost the handle - this can be done with pliers. Doing so will also remove a small metal staple that is used to clamp the bristles to the handle. This metal staple is normal in toothbrush manufacturing and is also present in all plastic toothbrushes.
Once the bristles have been removed, the toothbrush handle can be composted. As for the bristles, toothbrush bristles are very small and lightweight and thus curbside recycling will not work. We suggest trying to work out a solution with your local recycling facility. If no solution can be found, the bristles will have to be landfilled. In total, this will result in less than 0.1 ounces of plastic waste (a dramatic improvement from plastic toothbrushes).
