Eco-Friendly Shipping

At Better Footprints we keep Mother Nature in mind with every decision that we make. For that reason, all of our orders are packed and shipped using recycled, recyclable, post-consumer, post-industrial, and/ or biodegradable goods. 

Below you will find brief descriptions of what we mean by these terms, as well as a detailed break down of the exact items we use for shipping and packaging.

Terms

1. Recycled - "a product that already includes content from previously used material" (Sustana Fiber, 2019)

2. Recyclable - "a product labeled as recyclable can go into the recycling bin, versus the landfill. These products have the potential to be re-processed into something new" (Sustana Fiber, 2019)

3. Post-consumer - "materials are reclaimed from products customers have used or discarded" (Jabil)

4. Post-industrial - "materials are reclaimed from manufacturing waste or scrap" (Jabil)

5. Biodegradable - "All compostable items are considered biodegradable, but not all biodegradable items are compostable. Biodegradable packaging means it can degrade from the action of naturally occurring microorganisms such as bacteria, fungi and algae." (Eco Enclose, 2019)

Our shipping products

(Note: Items used to ship your order will vary depending on the products you have ordered)

1. Tab locking box - The tab locking boxes we use are made from 95% post-consumer waste and 5% post-industrial waste. Therefore, absolutely no new materials are used in their manufacturing.

2. Padded Mailer - The padded mailers we use are made from recovered newspaper which are matted into a layer of cushioning and then sandwiched between two solid layers of recycled Kraft paper.

3. Kraft Mailer - The Kraft mailers we use are made from 90% post-consumer waste and 10% post-industrial waste. In other words, they are constructed entirely from recovered waste AND can still be recycled after they've served their purpose.

4. Kraft Flatback Tape - The tape we use is made from Kraft paper backing that has been topped with a blend of rubber adhesives. It features a renewable and biodegradable plant-derived adhesive & backing.

5. Corrugated Bubble - The corrugated bubble we use is comprised of 100% recycled cardboard made entirely from post-consumer and post-industrial waste.

6. Other - Aside from the materials listed above, your order may also come packed with some "less eco-friendly" goods such as plastic air pillows, plastic bubble wrap, plastic mailers, foam, tissue paper, etc. These have all been saved or donated in order to be reused at least once more, rather than sending them directly to landfill. 

Again, no plastic supplies were purchased with the sole purpose of packaging your order. Any plastic shipping supplies that may come with your order have been reused. Like with all of our shipping supplies, we recommend you give these ANOTHER use, if possible, before throwing them in the trash.
